Batman Ninja
Batman Ninja as you can tell is an anime film. I honestly thought it was refreshing to have a film that wasn’t made in the US or the UK. The Japanese did a banging good job with the art style, made it awesome and enjoyable. In form of art it is fine having it done in a different style, but at least they kept Batman as Batman. It would had felt wrong if they had him kill people. (Although he did technically so in the comics back in the 40’s) What was right about the film? Well, for starters the Batman, along with his allies, and his foes get sent back in time to Feudal Japan, and Batman states that Joker had messed up the timeline. Another good thing about the film is the acting, that felt pretty solid. My third main thing I liked was the fights as they were phenonium. Oh and plus how the era of Edo (I assume that’s the case) feels in place, despite Joker using industrial revolution beforehand.
What did I not like about it? This one is a hard question. It sure wasn’t perfect. Not by a long shot. I think one of the things I didn’t like was how Joker and Harley Quinn somehow cheated death. Whilst, ok there is an argument of killing them off wouldn’t be a DC thing to do, that’s fair enough. I can not disagree with that, what I’d call plot armour.
Would I recommend watching the film? Absolutely because it’s a decent film, where you can use as a form of escapism, for a good while. Whilst the plot in general is pretty straight forward and nothing complicated because it’s not one of those films where it requires complexity, although I prefer it being the actual case.
